What to Expect

All patients except Liver biopsy patients can expect to be at the facility for approximately 2-3 hours.  This is from the time you walk in the door to the time you are discharged.  If you are sedated, you might want your driver to stay with you.  The physician will talk with you after the procedure.  If you are sedated, you might not remember speaking with the physician.

You will be sent home with discharge paperwork.  Liver biopsy patients can expect to be at the facility approximately 5-6 hours from the time they walk in the door to the time they are discharged.

Procedure Specific Information

For procedure specific instructions, follow the link below.

Procedure Specific Instructions
  1. All patients that receive sedation must have someone drive you home.  There are no exceptions.  Taxi cabs are unacceptable.
  2. Your physician will talk with you prior to your procedure and explain all risks involved with the procedure and will answer any questions you have regarding the procedure.
  3. A nurse will call you the day before your procedure to obtain a health history, explain your rights and responsibilities, and to answer any questions you may have.
  4. Please leave all jewelry at home.  We will ask you to remove all jewelry prior to the procedure.  Any jewelry that cannot be removed, we will have you sign a waiver, stating that you are aware of the possible risks involved.

Insurance and Payment

Please bring a copy of your driver's license and insurance information.   We will file insurance for you, but ask that you cover the portion that insurance will not cover at the time of your visit.  Most insurance plans have a co-payment, co-insurance and/or deductible.  You are responsible for these payments.  We will prepare an estimate of this cost and notify you a few days prior to your procedure.  This payment is due at the time of service, and all charges incurred are for the facility.   You will receive a separate bill from the physician and from pathology if any biopsies are taken.  If you are unable to pay on the date of the procedure, the appointment will be rescheduled.

For your convenience, we will accept a personal check and all major credit cards.
