General Instructions
All patients except Motility and Liver biopsy patients can expect to be at the facility for approximately 2-3 hours. This is from the time you walk in the door to the time you are discharged. If you are sedated, you might want your driver to stay with you. The physician will talk with you after the procedure. If you are sedated you might not remember speaking with the physician. You will be sent home with discharge paper work.
Motility patients will not be sedated and can expect to be at the facility approximately 1 hour. This includes check in time. You only need to check in 15-20 minutes prior to procedure.
Liver biopsy patients can expect to be at the facility approximately 5-6 hours from the time they walk in the door to the time they are discharged.
Instructions for Colonoscopy1.
If you take Coumadin (Warfarin), plavix or aggrenox call your physician 7 days prior to your procedure. You may take Tylenol, Aspirin, and Ibuprofen. Lovenox or Fragmin should not be used the day of the procedure. Diabetics: Please consult your primary care physician on how to handle your medications and diet. If you are under the care of a Cardiologist, PLEASE CALL him/her before stopping any medications. You may continue to take all other medications. Please call our office with any questions you may have.
2. The day before your procedure stay on clear liquids only.
Do not eat any solid food! Avoid dairy products. Drink plenty of fluids all day. Examples of clear liquids include: bouillon, broth, jell-O, Gatorade, popsicles, fruit juice without pulp, coffee without cream or soft drinks.
Nothing red or containing red dye and no dairy products.3. The day before the procedure, follow the prep instructions given to you by your physician.
4. The morning of the procedure, you may have 8oz of the recommended clear liquids 4 hours prior to your procedure.
5. You must have a driver (Taxi cabs are unacceptable. You will be sedated) If you must cancel your appointment please call 48 hours in advance to your doctor’s office not this facility at 972-758-4600.
General Instructions for all Procedures1. All patients that receive sedation must have somebody drive you home. There are no exceptions. Taxi cabs are unacceptable.
2. Your physician will talk with you prior to your procedure and explain all risks involved with the procedure and will answer any questions you have regarding the procedure.
3. A nurse will call you the day before your procedure to obtain a health history, explain your rights and responsibilities, and to answer any questions you might have.

Please leave all jewelry at home. We will ask you to remove all jewelry prior to procedure. Any jewelry that cannot be removed, we will have you sign a waiver, stating that you are aware of the possible risks involved.
